From Pup to Conqueror
A New Raider’s Guide
Managing DKP & Collecting Loot
To join our merry band and start collecting acorns (DKP), follow these steps:
- Head to the DKP Creation channel in Discord.
- Provide the name, rank (main or alt), level, class, race, and gender of your character.
- Next, visit the Squirrels OpenDKP site and register an account.
- Log in, click on “Characters,” and request access to your character.
- Once access is granted, log back in, go to “Characters,” and claim your character.
- If you’re missing raid ticks (DKP credit), visit the “Missing Raid Ticks” section, find the missing tick, and request approval.
Loot in DKP raids utilizes the OpenDKP system described above so make sure you have the site open and ready to go! Officers will announce in voice chat on Discord when certain items are posted for bid, at which point they will appear in the Bidding Tool section of the website. A few important notes:
- The SoW OpenDKP utilizes a Second+1 bid charge system which means that the highest bid is charged an amount of DKP equal to the second highest bidders number +1 (please see the FAQ for examples of how this system works!)
- Please ensure that you have the correct character selected and that the main/alt distinction is correct prior to entering your bid (near the top of the Bidding Tool page)
- If you are having difficulties accessing the site or placing a bid, please reach out via in game tell to the officer handling loot for the raid
- Additional loot rules and restrictions may apply…if you are unsure, ask!
DKP and Non-DKP Raid Events!
Squirrels of War (SoW) and the Acorn Alliance typically host DKP raid events on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday from 8:15 PM ET to 11:15 PM ET. These Raid Events are typically aimed at tackling the most challenging dungeons, bosses, content, and occasionally a 2 million HP freeport guards for the memes. DKP Attendance is taken in half hour intervals starting promptly at 8:15 PM ET, with a full raid yielding seven (7) total DKP. Officers have discretion to extend raid times which may, or may not, yield additional bonus DKP based on the nature of the extension. DKP Raids are both in the event calendar found in discord and posted in the #-schedule- channel near the top of the channel list Please understand that, while we absolutely want to hear your topical and poignant joke about Rylex, we kindly ask that you make sure to deliver it outside of times when comms need to be clear (during officer planning discussions and pulls/boss fights).
SoW and the AA also frequently host Non-DKP raid events! While some are weekly, like Epic Fight Tuesdays, others are ad-hoc and hosted by individual raid members. Some are even spontaneous and will be posted with a raider ping in discord approximately 30 min prior so keep an eye out! The loot rules of Non-DKP events are at the discretion of the member host so make sure you familiarize yourself with the event posted in discord prior to attendance.
Nuts for Epics
Chasing that epic? Follow these steps to get on the tracker:
- Go to the Epic Tracker.
- Request edit access in the top right corner.
- Select your class tab at the bottom of the Google Sheet.
- Add your character in the same format as the others listed.
- Request help with epic mob fights in the #epic-mob-request channel
SoW typically runs epic focused guild events on Tuesdays so make sure to prioritize attending these events and if you don’t hear/see the mob you need mentioned in the itinerary for the night, don’t be afraid to speak up! You are also encouraged to host/post your own epic kill nights as well! Patience and persistence are key.
Requesting Items/Spells from Guild Bank!
Got a piece of loot from Sky and need the items to complete the quest? Working on an epic and want one of our eighteen Jade Reavers? Take a look at the document below to see if there’s anything that will help you fulfill a goal or step up your game. Then head to the Raider’s Den in discord and make a request!
- Head to our Guild Bank Page and attempt to locate the item/spell
- For Sky items and MQs, post in #sky-item-request channel
- For other MQ items, post in #mq-items channel
- For spell requests, post in #spell-requests channel with the name of the spell and the LETTER of the spell bank mule(s) currently holding the spell
- For all other Item requests, post in #bank-item-request channel
- Keep an eye on your request and an officer should acknowledge it within 24 hours. You can arrange a time to meet up and accept the item at the crates in EC tunnel
Please understand that certain items have a lifetime DKP earning restriction. A responding officer will let you know if this is the case so that you can apply again later once you qualify.
Frequently Acorned Questions (F.A.Q.)
- Q: How in the WORLD does this Second+1 DKP bid system work, especially with mains and alts?!?
- A: This system is best understood through specific examples. Here are some common ones which will cover most (but perhaps not all) scenarios:
- Example 1: You bid 34dkp for an Amulet of Feculence and WIN! The next highest bidder is 28dkp. You are therefore charged 29dkp instead of 34dkp. Great success!
- Example 2: You bid an 18dkp for some Pantaloons of Constipation but…there are TWO of them for bid! You are second place which means you still win! You are charged 18dkp. First place is charged 19dkp. Everyone is happy!
- Example 3: You bid 21dkp for the Savage Stick of Many Beatings but lose to some dork named Gomertwo. BUT WAIT, GomerTwo bid as an ALT and you bid as a MAIN. You two were the only bidders. You win and are charged 1dkp. Wuuhhhh? Main and Alt bids are weighed only against each other and when only one qualifying bid wins, this winning bid is reduced to 1dkp.
- Example 4: You bid 9dkp for an Earring of Gnome Annihilation and you TIE another bidder. Each bidder /randoms 100. You roll a 96 (you sick puppy) and are charged 9dkp. The loser of the random is charged 0 (whomp whomp)
- Example 5: Nobody bids on that Scimitar of Scintillating Scones but ya know what? You kinda want it anyways. Just send a tell to an officer and you will be charged 1dkp to loot it (yes, even though it was going to rot).
- Q: I showed up at 8:20 PM ET for the Raid, can I still participate? Can I PLEEEEASE get dkp credit?
- A: You can absolutely still participate, please just ask for a pickup and be patient. Unfortunately you cannot get dkp credit for the 8:15 PM ET attendance but you CAN get credit for the 8:45 PM ET attendance check!
- Q: I need to go AFK for a quick minute to ____________ (we don’t need to know!). Later, I need to go AFK for 14 minutes because my dog named Fitzwilliam Darcy needs to go out. What do I do?
- A: For brief AFKs, just put your AFK flag on and come back as soon as you can. For lengthy (more than 5 min) AFKs, please let an officer know. Lengthy AFKs without officer notification may result in a minor dkp penalty.
